Russia reports more than 5,900 COVID cases in last day, highest count since Dec. 29

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM – The number of COVID-19 cases in Russia rose from 5914 in the last day to 5478 the day before, the coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Thursday, TASS reports.

This brings the number of cases shown to the highest since Dec. 29, when the crisis center reported 6146 cases. Russia has shown 21,876,336 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

As many as 40 COVID patients have died in Russia in the past day to 46 deaths reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 394,569. COVID-19 recoveries increased through 5,154 on the last day to 5,028 the day before, bringing the total to 21,293,221.

During the following day, 837 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia compared to 893 hospitalizations on Wednesday (down 6. 3%). The number of hospitalized patients decreased in 40 regions and increased in 34, but remained unchanged in 11 regions.

COVID-19 cases in Moscow rose from 2,051 the previous day to 2,005, reaching 3,324,390, according to data published Thursday on the official government portal. Eleven coronavirus patients died to twelve the day before, bringing the total number of deaths in the Russian capital to 47,749. There were 1747 recoveries on the last day, bringing the total number of others recovered to 3,129,224. COVID-19 cases in St. Petersburg rose from 674 on the last day to 687 the day before, for a total of 1,836,575. Eleven coronavirus patients have died in Russia’s second largest city in the past 24 hours and 671 patients have recovered.
