The world’s first animal vaccine against the new coronavirus has been registered in Russia, the country’s agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, announced on Wednesday.
Immunity lasts six months after vaccination, the dose’s developers are still analyzing it, the watchdog said, according to a Reuters report.
Mass production of the Covid-19 vaccine could begin next month, Rosselkhoznadzor said.
According to Russian scientists, the use of this vaccine can prevent the progression of viral mutations.

The animal vaccine, developed through a unit of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), was named Carnivac-Cov, said the agency’s deputy director, Konstantin Savenkov.
“Clinical trials of Carnivac-Cov, which began last October, focused on dogs, cats, arctic foxes, mink, foxes and other animals,” Savenkov said.
“It is the first and only product worldwide designed to save Covid-19 in animals,” he stated.
“The effects of the trials allow us to conclude that the vaccine is innocent and highly immunogenic, since all vaccinated animals developed antibodies against the coronavirus in one hundred percent of cases. “
Russia already has three human vaccines against Covid-19, the best known is Sputnik V. Moscow has also given emergency authorization to two others, EpiVacCorona and CoviVac.
At the same time, coronavirus cases in Russia rose from 8,711 to 4,528,543 on March 29, the anti-coronavirus crisis reported.
