Russia records 5,478 Covid cases in last day, count since December 31

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM — The number of COVID-19 cases in Russia rose to 5478 on the last day from 4042 the previous day, the coronavirus crisis center said on Wednesday, TASS reports.

This brings the number of cases shown to the highest since Dec. 31, when the crisis center reported 5527 cases. Russia has shown 21,870,422 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.

No fewer than 46 Covid patients have died in Russia in the past day to forty-five deaths reported on Tuesday, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 394,529. COVID-19 recoveries increased through 5,028 in the last day to 4,933 a day earlier, bringing the total to 21,288,067.

During the following day, 893 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia versus 877 hospitalizations on Tuesday (1. 8%). The number of hospitalized patients decreased in 38 regions and increased in 39, but remained the same in 8 regions.

COVID-19 cases in Moscow rose to 2,051 from 1,124 the previous day, reaching 3,322,385, according to the coronavirus crisis center. On Wednesday, Moscow showed more than 2,000 cases for the first time since Dec. 16. Twelve coronavirus patients died compared to 14 the day before, bringing the total to 47,738. There were 1,580 recoveries in the past day, bringing the total recovered to 3,127,477. COVID-19 cases in St. Petersburg rose to 687 in the last day compared to 663 the day before. for a total of 1,835,901. Eleven coronavirus patients have died in Russia’s second largest city in the past 24 hours, and 687 patients have recovered.
