The Russian military has reached a milestone in its artillery losses in the war in Ukraine, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
“14,000 Russian artillery losses since the start of the full-scale invasion. We continue to destroy Russian weapons. We are opening the way to victory,” Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said in a message posted on its social media.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which publishes figures on Russian troop and equipment losses as part of its report on the war, said Russia had lost 48 artillery systems in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 14,007.
In its latest update on Wednesday, the Ukrainian military said Russia had lost 1,130 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 529,750.
Moscow also lost a total of 15,319 armored fighting vehicles, 7,984 tanks, 19,078 vehicles and fuel tanks, 857 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 359 military aircraft, 326 helicopters and 28 warships, kyiv’s military said.
Neither Ukraine nor Russia publish detailed or normal casualty figures. Newsweek has not independently verified those figures or contacted the Russian Defense Ministry for comment via email.
Russia and Ukraine are suffering losses of troops and aircraft as fighting intensifies in eastern Ukraine. Moscow launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region on May 10, capturing several villages on Ukraine’s northeastern border.
Yurii Povkh, spokesman for the Kharkiv Strategic Operational Group, told Ukrainska Pravda in remarks published Wednesday that dozens of Russian infantrymen had been isolated in a structure in the town of Vovchansk in the region.
He refuted an earlier Forbes report on Monday that a bunch of Russian military personnel were surrounded at a chemical plant in Vovchansk.
“I would like to emphasize that, first of all, the Russians are not operating with the figures discussed in this report. The figure of another 400 people remains to be verified because it does not exist,” he said.
“As for the blockade of a certain Russian unit on a structure in the city of Vovchansk, it is a fact. However, there are not hundreds, but dozens of invaders who have recently been isolated in an exclusive domain of the city. “
Moscow rarely stores data on the number of war victims. However, in a rare report on Ukraine’s war casualties, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a June 5 press conference that the ratio of “irreparable losses” between Russia and Ukraine The vote was one to one. five in favor of Moscow, without giving further details.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in its latest update on Tuesday that its military has destroyed 613 Ukrainian aircraft, 276 helicopters, 25,934 unmanned aerial vehicles, 531 anti-aircraft missile systems, 16,374 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,344 combat vehicles various types. . rocket launching systems, 10,645 pieces of artillery and mortars, as well as 22,687 sets of special military vehicles.
