MOSCOW
After a slight drop the previous day, the number of new coronaviruses in Russia rebounded on Friday and rose again.
Authorities have detected 5,849 new cases in the last 24 hours, of which almost a fraction (2,697 or 46. 1%) were diagnosed through tests and the patients had no symptoms.
A total of 68,622 people in Russia have contracted COVID-19, which has spread to all 85 regions of the country.
After the infection claimed the lives of another 60 people since yesterday, the death toll has risen to 615.
Recoveries have reached 5,568, while around 50,000 more people are being treated in hospitals.
The capital, Moscow, remains the worst-hit area, with only about 3,000 cases, and its mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said the city is not even halfway to defeating the pandemic.
The virus has reached 185 countries and regions since it emerged in China last December.
More than 2. 71 million cases have been reported worldwide, with a death toll of nearly 191,000, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
