China has sensationally retaliated at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, questioning its credibility after revealing that the coronavirus likely emerged from a lab in Wuhan.
FBI Director Christopher Wray spoke publicly for the first time about the agency’s ongoing investigation into the origins of COVID-19, the fatal virus that “probably” came out of the government-controlled lab.
“The FBI has been assessing for some time that the origins of the pandemic are likely a possible lab incident in Wuhan,” M. Wray told Fox News’ Brett Baier.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said China “firmly opposes political manipulation” before the FBI.
“Putting the intelligence network back on the index of a clinical factor is a clear sign that the factor has been politicized,” he told reporters.

The FBI director’s admission comes a year after Sky News Australia aired an investigation through Sharri Markson that investigated the origins of COVID-19 and exposed evidence that the lab leak theory was a genuine possibility.

Mao Ning then called on the U. S. to He urged the U. S. government to “respect science” before warning that its own reputation would be tarnished by promoting the theory of laboratory leaks.
“The United States will succeed in discrediting China by repeating the theory of laboratory leakage, but it will only harm the United States,” he said.
“We urge the United States to respect science and facts, avoid politicizing this issue, avoid its intelligence- and policy-based origins, and avoid undermining foreign solidarity opposing the pandemic and global cooperation in science-based origin tracing. “
The Foreign Ministry spokesman also pointed to the “science-based” conclusion of a World Health Organization team that visited China in 2021 and concluded that the lab leak was considered “very unlikely. “

The team spent 4 weeks in Wuhan, which included a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Huanan Market, along with Chinese researchers.
However, questions were raised on the point of transparency and cooperation from researchers and officials, and WHO team members expressed frustration at the time.
The WHO has since stated that it is inopportune to dismiss the theory of laboratory leakage.
