Resources for a satisfied (healthy) 2023!

A message with fitness and wellness tips for 2023 sent to the Drexel community.

Dear Drexel academics and colleagues,

Happy new year!! We hope your vacation is relaxing and fun. As we return to campus, I’d like to remind you of some recent adjustments and new resources to start 2023 on a healthy note.

As you contemplate your goals for the new year, Drexel is committed to your fitness and well-being. Knowledge shows that feeling smart is strongly related to getting it right, either separately and as a campus community. We will offer a variety of resources ranging from counseling to exercise and outpatient physical care. Whether you’re a student or an employee, you can now seamlessly locate them on the Health website.

On December 14, the Drexel Health Checker app stopped working. The new Drexel Health Checker is now available; is an internet portal (no app version) that will allow us to make quick updates as public fitness rules continue to evolve. You can access the new Drexel Health Checker here. You can seamlessly use this portal to schedule a COVID check on Drexel’s Race Visit the verification site, get verification results, report an outdoor verification result, upload evidence of COVID vaccination or booster, or apply for a COVID vaccine waiver if you meet medical or devout requirements. Don’t keep your COVID vaccine data up to date, adding any boosters you may have obtained.

Your data from the old Drexel Health Checker app and online platform has been securely transferred to the new platform. Information on privacy and knowledge security can be found here. To learn more about the new Drexel Health Checker, visit the Drexel Health Checker page in our Response to the Coronavirus website. If you encounter technical difficulties, please email research. informatics@drexelmed. edu.

Philadelphia is experiencing a buildup of COVID-19, as well as other respiratory infections this winter. For this reason, Drexel strongly recommends that you dress in a well-fitting face mask when you’re on campus with others. Wearing a mask adds an extra layer of infection coverage and can keep you and those around you safe.

Please note that a well-fitting mask is required in all fitness services, including but not limited to student fitness services, occupational fitness services, and counseling center, and in all fitness care rotations (College of Nursing and Health Professions, School of Medicine, health care co-op positions). If you want a mask, Drexel provides KN95 and/or KF94 high filtration masks to students and workers upon request, at locations such as the Hagerty Library, DAC, Recreation Center, Main Building Hall, Kline Law School, New University Building Hall, Queen Lane Security Office, and Race Hall COVID Test Center. Students living in Drexel dormitories can get masks from their RAs.

As always, activities are safer when they take place outdoors, weather permitting. Where necessary, ventilation in campus spaces has been improved. If separate ventilation/filtration devices have been added to your bedroom, office, meeting, or training space, leave them on. The facility continues to monitor all HVAC systems on campus.

Keeping up with vaccines, in addition to having COVID boosters, remains a key component of a comprehensive method of staying healthy and not spreading the virus to others. Vaccines work. The risk of infection is three times lower in other people who are up-to-date on vaccines and add boosters. More importantly, other people vaccinated with the fall booster enjoy a significant reduction in serious illness and poor outcomes. Students can get the latest booster dose through Student Health. Reinforcement is also available throughout our region at many pharmacies. The flu vaccine is also available in those places. Do not download your latest recovery data through the Drexel Health Checker.

If you have COVID symptoms or have been exposed to someone who does, get checked out and follow Drexel’s guidelines: If you are inflamed or exposed. Employees no longer want formal approval to return to work. If you have any questions about Drexel COVID protocols, please email covid19questions@drexel. edu. Program your control through the fitness checker.

As always, we are grateful to have you in the Drexel campus community, and look forward to being your fitness and wellness spouse in 2023 and beyond.

Yours Truly
