The deputy governor of nasarawa state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who also serves as president of the state, the executing organization of COVID-19 in the state refused to appear before the State Assembly Committee on COVID-19 to tell the space how the state is taking steps to prevent the pandemic.

On Wednesday, the Assembly threatened to invoke all applicable sections of the Constitution to compel the Committee of the State Working Group on COVID-19 to appear before its ad hoc committee on COVID-19.

This followed the inability of the State Working Group Committee on COVID-19 members to comply with the invitation sent to them through the House Ad Hoc Committee on COVID-19.

The chairman of the meeting committee and representative member of Lafia Central, the Honourable Dahiru Abdullahi Angibi, who said this in a briefing to journalists in the Assembly, regretted that the House, through the ad hoc committee on COVID-19, had invited members of the Committee of the State Working Group on COVID-19 to still honor the Invitation Array they went to send to the Secretariat.

It reiterated that the House interested in meeting with the Committee of the State Working Group on COVID-19 members and not the members of the secretariat and asked them to return.

He added that the House would not hesitate to use its applicable legislation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to do what was obligatory if the members of the State Working Group on COVID-19 did not respect their new invitation.
