Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Sunday that Dr. Anthony Fauci “should go to prison” for his “dishonesty” regarding how he handled the COVID-19 pandemic as the nation’s chief medical adviser.
Paul, a former ophthalmologist, made the comments on WABC 770 AM’s The Cats Roundtable while at home about his differences with Fauci over the origins of the pandemic and Fauci’s transparency with Congress.
“Frankly, for your dishonesty, you’re going to go to jail. Do you think the clinical wisdom gained from these studies was worth the deaths of 20 million people? Paul spoke with host John Catsimatidis about Fauci. If he lies to Congress and is dishonest, No you will settle for the responsibility. For his error in judgment, he will be ridiculed. It will never be accepted.
“History judges him as a poor user who made one of the worst decisions in the history of public fitness, in the history of the world,” he added.
Paul has long been critical of Fauci’s handling of the government’s reaction to the pandemic, even though their dispute has intensified over their differences over the origins of COVID.

Paul filed a fraudulent complaint with the Justice Department against Fauci in July of last year for categorically denying under oath at a Senate hearing that the National Institutes of Health was not investing in “gain-of-function” studies at the Wuhan Institute. Virology, the Chinese laboratory from which reports claim the virus emanated.
DOJ has not yet acted on those charges, which would stem from testimony at two Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committees in 2021 and 2022. Fauci, who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for decades, has denied accusations he lied to the committee.
