A desperate son whose father is trapped in the Philippines and in urgent need of a liver transplant says his family is forced to pay £500 every day to keep him in an incubator, and will have to raise thousands more for an air ambulance to get him out. home.
Reece Jones, 26, said his father Nicholas was rushed to hospital with cirrhosis of the liver while on holiday in Calapan. Desperate, Reece now says the 56-year-old’s condition has been getting worse and worse since he was there.
As soon as he learned what had happened, Reece and his wife Ella Johnson followed their father. They once spent around £8,000 on remedy because Nicholas didn’t have insurance, but the two men are now kind to the public for more help.
Reece says he “can’t put into words” what his family has done “minute by minute” to help. He added: “We slept about 15 hours in almost two weeks. We are stuck in a public hospital where the costs of treating a foreigner are incredibly expensive. We have been stuck here for a few weeks and we are asking for help to bring him home urgently. The ambulances Air flights are very expensive and since they are not insured, we cannot.
Reece, who according to the Manchester Evening News also sadly lost his mother to motor neurone disease, added: “The longer he stays here, the worse his condition will be and the worse things will get. In fact, we wish to bring him back to the UK to get the proper medical treatment and go through the only surgery that will save him: a liver transplant. He doesn’t have much time left, we desperately want help.
A GoFundMe page set up on Nicholas’ appeal has already raised over £5,000 through over three hundred generous donations. She wrote on the site: “My spouse has already lost her mother and still doesn’t have her father. Please if you can help me and save some or share the funds, I will raise cash to help us pay those expenses or potentially , pay to take it home privately, we would be very grateful.
