A few days after attending Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, Queen Margaret of Denmark was tested for COVID-19, according to the Danish royal court.

“Her Majesty the Queen tested positive for COVID-19 last night and now lives at Fredensborg Palace,” according to a message on the palace’s online page on Wednesday. “Therefore, the Queen’s activities this week have been cancelled. “

Queen Margaret, 82, has mild symptoms, according to Reuters. In February this year, the Danish monarch was tested for the virus and also showed mild symptoms. She has been vaccinated against COVID, the BBC reported.

Margrethe among 2,000 visitors at the British monarch’s state funeral at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday and also attended the smaller delivery service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. He accompanied through his son, Crown Prince Frederik.

The Danish queen is a third cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, a descendant of Queen Victoria, according to the media.

Margaret sat in the front row of the church in the same segment as other monarchs of European nations, adding Prince Albert II of Monaco, King Philip of Belgium and King Charles XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

Queen Margaret also visited Westminster Hall the day before the funeral to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth for her refurbishment.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth, Queen Margaret is now the head of state with the longest years of service in Europe. In 1972, she was Denmark’s first female sovereign at the age of 32 following the death of her father, King Frederick IX.

Margrethe celebrates her Golden Jubilee year, marking 50 years on the throne. However, it reduced the festivities planned for the weekend following Queen Elizabeth’s death on 8 September. At a gala at copenhagen’s Royal Theatre on September 10, Queen Margaret held a minute’s silence in honour of Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Margaret wrote a letter to King Charles III after her mother’s death, to the BBC, expressing her condolences.

“She is a dominant figure among European monarchs and a wonderful inspiration to us all,” he wrote.
