Russian contender Vladimir Putin said Sunday that he had suffered minor side effects from the coronavirus vaccine after receiving the first vaccine on Tuesday, Interfax news firm reported in a television interview.
“I woke up the next morning after vaccination and found myself feeling a slight muscle pain. I took an Array thermometer . . . my temperature was normal,” Rossiya 1 told the state television channel.
He said he had an uncomfortable feeling at the injection site.
Putin revealed which of the three Russian vaccines he had taken, saying that only the doctor who vaccinated him knew.
The Kremlin announced Putin’s resolve to receive the coronavirus vaccine in December and the president said the delay was due to a desire to mix it with other vaccines he planned to receive.
Putin said the 3 Russian vaccines, the best known production and the most widely obtained maximum is Sputnik V, were at most the same.
Nearly two-thirds of Russians are unwilling to obtain the Sputnik V vaccine, according to independent pollster Levada Center, as of March 1, and the maximum number of respondents mentions the effects as the main reason.
Russia began its vaccination crusade against the coronavirus in December and Monday, Putin said that 4. 3 million Russians out of 144 million had so far won two vaccines.
Russia has recorded more than 4. 5 million coronavirus infections.
Putin said he hoped Russia would have collective immunity and lift restrictions on the pandemic until the end of summer.
Collective immunity refers to a scenario in which other people in a population are immunized as opposed to infection to prevent the spread of the disease.
With the new coronavirus outbreak, some scientists expect collective immunity to occur when between 50% and 70% of the population is immunized.
