The Minister of Itauki Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, said that people want to understand that Levuka is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site and that any progress or rehabilitation will have to follow the procedure defined in the World Heritage Convention.
Yesterday he made the comments about his stopover in Levuka.
Vasu says they will want to hold extensive investment consultations over the next financial year for the progress and rehabilitation of clubroot sites on the island.
Vasu proposes the need for the inter-agency organization to work together to ensure that the city’s progress benefits other people and heritage for future generations.
Vasu told the audience that it is an opportunity to explore with the government how to manage the demanding situations and opportunities to manage such an iconic place.
He visited the Levuka Community Center, the New Market, the Port of Levuka and the Act of Surrender together with representatives of key organizations in the rehabilitation of the Levuka World Heritage.
