Proposal to build a privately funded stadium on the Brisbane River

Business leaders and sports stars are backing a proposal to build a privately funded stadium on the Brisbane River as a $6 billion Olympic venue for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

“I think it’s very unlikely that this stadium can be built with personal funds,” Queensland Premier Steven Miles said.

“It would require a large investment of state taxpayer dollars and resources, but as far as I can tell, it’s very preliminary. “
