The Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPI) has reported a slight increase in the number of COVID-19 cases among its members as more Filipinos and their families gather for celebrations during the holiday season.
According to a dzBB report, PHAPI said most of the cases are mild, especially for patients who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
PHAPI President Dr. José René de Grano cited that the increase in COVID cases would possibly have been due to more meetings held in December.
The number of COVID-19 cases is expected to decline in the coming weeks, de Grano added.
The University of the Philippines and the Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) reinstated mandatory mask wearing in the hospital this month, amid emerging COVID-19 cases in the country.
