PRIMED is a dynamic world leader in the manufacture and source of single-use medical PPE, which adds face masks, gowns and examination gloves. Headquartered in Edmonton, PRIMED has recently employed more than 1,000 people worldwide. To date, all PRIMED production services are located outside Canada. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, PRIMED has been able to serve its acute care partners to particularly high degrees and continues to paint to increase its source chain through an investment in Canadian production.

“PRIMED is excited to move forward with our own ‘Canada-made solution’,” said David Welsh, PRIMED’s CEO. Now it’s time to increase our production capacity and do it right here at home. Improving the ability to gently and safely supply our Canadian-based consumers with non-public protective devices is a commercial priority. “

PRIMED expects the location to be known in the coming weeks. Operations will begin in the fall of 2020. As a result of this expansion, between 40 and 50 additional jobs will be created. The facility will produce asTM-classified surgical masks and N95 respirators as a component of a gradual process.

“We are the acute care selection provider in Canada and a world leader in PPE manufacturing,” Welsh said. “We have been there for Canadians and our partners around the world at this difficult time and will continue to paint for the stability of PPE supply.”
