The Pakistani civilian government’s ‘main interlocutor’ in bilateral relations: US

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, to attend the VI Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which will be held on October 12 and 13.
Kazakhstan’s Vice President and Finance Minister Yerulan Zhamaubayev won Prime Minister Sharif at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport.
Cabinet members and senior officials accompany the Prime Minister to the two-day summit.
During his stay in Astana, Prime Minister Sharif will meet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and will also attend the banquet hosted by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in honor of the leaders of CICA member states.
Shehbaz will face the CICA plenary assembly on Thursday, October 13, where he will speak about the importance of the convention as an exclusive forum to promote interaction and collaboration among Asian countries to address non-unusual challenges.
It will also highlight Pakistan’s regional and global issues.
The Prime Minister’s participation in the summit demonstrates the importance Pakistan attaches to connectivity and economic cooperation in Asia, in line with the objectives enshrined in the CICA Charter.

Before leaving for the summit, Shehbaz said the forum is capable of “shaping a new configuration of economic and security cooperation in Asia with greater connectivity. “
“As the world grapples with the prospect of a recession fueled by emerging energy and food prices, there is a greater need to publicize commitment and understanding to shape win-win partnerships. Climate-induced errors require synergistic efforts to obtain mutual results,” the Prime Minister said. the minister added.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of CICA member states with the aim of fostering greater cooperation, adding industry and investment spaces.
Established in 1992, CICA is an intergovernmental procedure composed of 27 countries from across the continent.
Pakistan is one of its founding members.
The summit focuses on peace, security and socio-economic progress in Asia.
CICA provides an invaluable platform to promote discussion of regional stability and prosperity objectives and win-win cooperation.
