Prime Minister Lee receives updated Covid-19 vaccine, urges public to do the same

It’s time to keep up with the Covid-19 vaccine, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Thursday, November 2.

The 71-year-old shared on social media that he had won an updated Covid-19 vaccine at Singapore General Hospital.

Launched by the Ministry of Health on Monday, the updated vaccine is based on Omicron XBB 1. 5 and better protects against existing and emerging strains of the virus, Prime Minister Lee explained.

It also answered a common question: Do you deserve to get vaccinated, especially if you’ve already had Covid-19?

“My symptoms were minimal and I felt fine, probably because I had kept my vaccinations up to date. But my coverage will diminish over time, and so will yours,” said Prime Minister Lee, who tested positive for Covid-19 in May and June. . .

Prime Minister Lee also suggested that other seniors aged 60 and over, other medically vulnerable people, as well as citizens of aged care facilities get vaccinated.

“Vaccination is coverage against Covid-19,” said Prime Minister Lee.

The new vaccine is available for free to anyone six months of age or older.

In an Oct. 28 press release, the Ministry of Health said the public can get vaccinated by visiting any joint and vaccination center, public fitness clinic, or polyclinic that provides the vaccine.

In October, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said that Singapore was experiencing a new wave of Covid-19 infections, with most cases attributable to two descendants of the XBB Omicron variant: EG. 5 and its HK. 3 sublineage.
