The president of the Nigerian Poultry Association (PAN) told The Nation that poultry makers are still suffering to satisfy the food desires of their birds.
Although new shipments of maize have arrived on the Nigerian market, poultry growers have not used it for animal feed due to the high water content.
The PAN explained that poultry members had been affected by the closure of the country opposed to COVID-19. Supply shortages have raised food, and movement restrictions have prevented many farmers and millers from working.
Nigeria has been able to import maize to address autumn shortages and the national food crisis, but NAP is involved in interest rates on imported products.
