One of the first examples of this alleged investigation was published in the Italian newspaper La Verita, which reported on November 22 that the Rome prosecutor’s office was investigating Speranza and Magrini for administering defective medications.

Speranza is the subject of a judicial inquiry into the government’s reaction to the onset of the pandemic, when the northern region of Bergamo experienced one of the most intense waves of early infection. Speranza announced on Facebook that the investigation, which focused on whether the government underestimated the contagiousness of Covid-19, closed in June 2023.
