LISBON, 12 Aug (Reuters) – Portuguese publishing house Cofina has renewed its offer to buy one hundred percent of the shares of Media Capital, which operates one of portugal’s largest television channels, the regulator of the CMVM festival said Wednesday.
The agreement would make Cofina, which already owns the tabloid Correio da Manha and the Jornal business newspaper, among others, the largest media group in the country.
Media Capital, which lately participates in 94% through the Spanish company Prisa, operates TVI, one of the largest television channels in the country. The agreement requires approval from CMVM.
Cofina made an initial offer to buy the company in September 2019, but abandoned the plans in March after a percentage sale needed to finance the sabotage agreement through the turmoil of the money market by the coronavirus outbreak.
The revised offer for the whole company is at a percentage of 0.415 euros, a minimum of 82% compared to the offer made before the pandemic. (Report through Victoria Waldersee edited through Chizu Nomiyama)
