LISBON – Portugal is preparing to issue immigrant visas for foreign workers, members of Portuguese-speaking countries, university academics and virtual nomads to fight hard work shortages and revive the economy.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ana Catarina Mendes said Wednesday that a new type of visa, the job search visa, has been created, allowing foreigners access to Portuguese territory to paintings for up to 180 days.
“This title provides for the elimination of bureaucratic barriers that prevented the immediate issuance of visas. New visas will be created, namely visas to search for paintings, quotas for those seeking paintings will be eliminated, and it will be less difficult to locate painting opportunities in Portugal,” Mendes said.
“There is no tax incentive. “
Digital nomads will be granted a transitional apartment or apartment visa and British citizens, thanks to access to biometric data, will now have access to all the rights “that each and every citizen here has” despite Brexit, the minister added.
Portugal faces a shortage of hard work, especially in hospitality and tourism, one of the main engines of the economy, but the minister declined to say how many other people apply for visas.
