Portugal has lifted all remaining Covid restrictions for UK tourists, despite fears of an increase in cases. This resolution covers vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers and was introduced this week to encourage tourism.

France, Malta, the Netherlands and Spain are the destinations where UK passport holders must now present evidence of Covid vaccination or cure.

Fully bitten visitors to mainland Portugal no longer want to provide evidence of vaccination, while the verification requirement has also been waived for travelers who have not won the full course of vaccinations. Visit Portugal states: “As of July 1, 2022, passengers entering the national territory are no longer required to prove that they have carried out a sars-CoV-2 infection control with a negative result or to present a virtual Covid-EU certificate or a vaccination or recovery certificate issued through third countries, accepted or identified in Portugal.

“The current measures will possibly be reviewed in accordance with the evolution of the pandemic. “Face coverings are still mandatory on public transport, in taxis, and during visits to nursing homes, retirement homes, and fitness facilities. Social distancing and common hand washing are recommended.

The move is expected to further reduce delays for UK arrivals at Portuguese airports, also allowing UK passport holders to enter the country’s electronic gates rather than queuing.

UK travellers, regardless of their vaccination status, can enter the following restrictions from EU/Schengen countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.

Some Covid access regulations are still in place for visitors from France, Malta, the Netherlands and Spain. Arrivals from the UK will need to provide a valid certificate of vaccination, recovery or PCR control when entering France, Malta and Spain.

Stricter rules apply to arrivals from the UK to the Netherlands. Only travelers with a vaccination or recovery certificate are allowed to enter.
