BRITS heading to Portugal have earned a festive welcome as the country more than its Covid rules.
Tourists no longer want to show Covid vaccinations or tests to enter the Portuguese mainland.
Previously, tourists were required to have evidence of a vaccine or a negative Covid test.
This is no longer the case if you are heading to popular holiday spots such as Lisbon or the Algarve.
The same goes for the island of Madeira, the Azores have kept the regulations in place, so all Britons over the age of 12 will want a vaccination certificate or a negative test.
A statement issued through Visit Portugal confirmed: “From July 1, 2022, passengers entering the national territory are no longer required to provide evidence of having used a SARS-CoV-2 infection control with a negative result or provide a COVID-EU Digital Certificate or Vaccination or Recovery Certificate issued through third countries, accepted or identified in Portugal. “
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has since updated its recommendation to reflect this.
The states: “There are no need for vaccination or COVID testing to enter mainland Portugal, Madeira and Porto Santo.
“You will have to present evidence that you have been fully vaccinated when you check in for your flight to the Azores.
“If you are not fully vaccinated, you will want to provide evidence of a negative PCR check (performed no more than 72 hours before boarding), an immediate-looking check (performed no more than 24 hours before boarding), or valid evidence of recent recovery from COVID-19.
That’s the only good news for Britons visiting Portugal this year.
The country recently showed that British travelers will use its electronic gates when entering and leaving the country.
It is one of the few countries that allows Britons to use them since the UK left the EU, and travellers now have to use security queues outside the EU.
However, tourists deserve to be aware that they will still have to stamp their passport when they leave the country, otherwise they will encounter problems later on.
We found some of the deals in the Algarve from £50 depending on the user depending on the night.
And we head to Porto: this is what you can expect from a holiday in the Portuguese city.
