Cairo: On Wednesday, U. S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, with efforts by Bahrain’s leaders to deepen regional stability and block Iran’s acts of destabilization.
Pompeo met with King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa in Manama as part of the current excursion of the most sensible American diplomat to the Middle East who has already taken him to Israel and Sudan.
The tour comes two weeks after the announcement of a peace treaty negotiated across the United States between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
Bahrain, one of the first Arab countries to host the historic agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
In talks with Pompeo, King Hamad pushes for the importance of intensifying efforts for the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation on the basis of the two-state solution, adding an independent sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with UN resolutions and a 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, Bahrain’s official news agency reported Bna.
The Bahraini monarch also praised America’s “pivot” role in the Middle East peace and stability procedure and in the treatment of Iranian interference in the region’s affairs, the firm added.
Bahrain needs its “strategic partnership” with the United States, the BNA said, quoting King Hamad in Pompeo.
Bahrain, a long-time U. S. ally, is home to the U. S. Navy fleet.
“It is an honor to meet His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Bahrain. I thanked him for our friendship and strategic partnership,” Pompeo tweeted after conversing with the monarch.
“We pledged to consolidate peace and security to promote greater unity among Gulf countries and counter the Iranian threat,” he added.
Early in the day, Pompeo met with Bahrain’s crown prince, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. “We discuss the importance of peacebuilding and regional stability, the importance of Gulf unity, and the combat opposed to Iran’s pernicious influence in the region,” Pompeo said in a tweet.
Bahrain is part of an Arab quartet, adding to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which cut diplomatic and maritime ties with the Qatari emirate in the Gulf in mid-2017 due to its terrorism. efforts to end the gap have not yet paid off.
Pompeo’s existence takes him to the United Arab Emirates.
The peace treaty between the United Arab Emirates and Israel includes the status quo of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries and the cessation of Israeli plans to annex new Palestinian territories.
