WARSAW – Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Friday that there is no consensus among EU leaders on a proposed 750 billion euro stimulus package to pull economies out of a recession caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“With a high degree of probability, there might probably be no agreement or the day after the matrix,” Morawiecki said. “Some say there could be another circular in July again. We are in an obvious position for that.”
Morawiecki said the northern countries agreed with their southern peers on regulations to disburse stimulus aid, and with the east on extending the EU’s base budget by 2021-2027.
He said Poland would like “its own path” to climate neutrality and warned other bloc members not to engage in eu-right-to-investment situations to which Warsaw would “would not feel compelled.” (Reporting through Gabriela Baczynska, Kate Abnett edited through Sonya Hepinstall)
