Andrzej Duda, Poland’s staunchly homophobic president, has been tested for the coronavirus.
Duda, 48, tested positive for the fatal virus (Oct. 23). He feels “fine,” according to presidential minister Blazej Spychalski, who broke the news.
The number of other people with coronavirus in Poland is rising rapidly, with a record 13,600 new cases reported yesterday. More than 228,000 more people were affected by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, and another 4172 people died from the respiratory illness COVID-19, caused by the coronavirus.
“The president was tested for the presence of coronavirus,” Spychalski said on Twitter on Saturday.
“The result was positive. The president is fine. We are in constant contact with the corresponding doctors.
It is not known where Duda contracted the virus, he attended an event in Tallinn on Monday (October 19) where he met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, who then went into quarantine.
Andrzej Duda is one of the few world leaders to have COVID-19, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, US President Donald Trump and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro also testing positive this year.
Duda was trolled by left-wing lawmakers dressed in rainbow-colored suits in solidarity with the LGBT network when he was officially sworn in for a moment as Poland’s president in August. Duda won a bitter presidential crusade in July, lambasting same-sex marriage and pledging to ban same-sex couples from adopting children.
His electoral good fortune has shattered the hopes and dreams of other LGBT people across the country, with many already saying they left Poland in hopes of a better life abroad.
The ultraconservative politician, who subsidized through the ruling Law and Justice party, attacked “gay ideology” early in his re-election campaign, setting the level of his offensive views.

This new impunity felt by homophobes has seen Pride attendees at marches in remote villages thrown bottles, eggs and firecrackers, while Poland has a patchwork of “LGBT-free zones” in a hundred municipalities, more than a third of the country.
