MINSK, Oct 25 (BelTA) — Polish border guards continue to conduct visits to push detained refugees into Belarus, the Belarusian State Border Committee told BelTA.
According to the source, the media touch the State Border Committee and wonder how Polish border guards bring refugees to the Belarusian border and try to push them towards Belarus. Every day, the Polish Border Service online page publishes data on the number of refugees who are discovered and apprehended on Polish territory. The State Border Committee of Belarus has pointed out that although Poland admits that it apprehends refugees on its own territory, Poland also claims that such foreigners are not allowed to initiate the official refugee procedure and are not sent to suitable refugee accommodation sites.
Instead, the Polish border service takes refugees to the Belarusian border and tries to push them into Belarusian territory. On October 24, the Polish border service detained 62 refugees, adding citizens of Cameroon, Sudan, Guinea, Nigeria, Egypt, Togo, Lebanon and Madagascar. According to Polish reports, the Polish border service also arrested two messengers, Ukrainian citizens, wearing 12 foreigners, and added Egyptian citizens. Detained refugees were allowed to initiate the formal refugee procedure and were transported to suitable refugee accommodation centres.
The Polish Border Service publishes data on accommodation facilities for foreign citizens, the number of refugees staying there and ongoing procedures for the review of refugee status programmes.
