Police squad test positives in Covid-19 on return to France from Tahiti

The French High Commissioner in French Polynesia said that 51 of the 72 members of a French cell police brigade had tested positive for Covid-19 on his return to France.

High Commissioner Dominique Sorain linked his infection to an event at a place to eat in Tahiti in late July, already at the center of a new group.

He said the team also said goodbye four days later.

Previously, the online news page The New Republic of the Pyrenees reported that 50 police officers had become inflamed and that one of them is now in the hospital.

In Tahiti, the 1930s said the police station where the brigade was founded would remain open.

Tests are being conducted with others who had been in close contact.

French Polynesia experienced an uptick last week after the virus resurgence two weeks ago.

Another 77 people registered with Covid-19 on the existing then wave.

The first wave from March to June recorded cases.

French Polynesia abolished quarantine needs for foreign arrivals a month ago to bring tourism to life.
