Ottawa police say a 28-year-old man is facing a secondary fee in connection with the city’s first murder in 2024.
Jama Roble, 33, was shot to death on Champagne Avenue South on Jan. 29 and died in the hospital last week.
In a news release Monday, police said 28-year-old Sharmaake Abdi Abdi Hire faces a charge of aiding and abetting the killing after the fact. He appeared in court on Saturday and remains in custody.
Over the weekend, police also announced that an Edmonton man is wanted on a charge of first-degree murder in Roble’s death.
Gibriil Bakal, 29, is still at large. He is described as black, standing 6 feet 1 inch (185 cm) tall and weighing about 86 kg (pounds).
