PM Modi’s photo removed from Covid vaccine certificate: here’s why

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph has been removed from the COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. “Together, India will defeat COVID-19,” the CoWIN certificate had long featured photographs of Prime Minister Modi, along with the caption. From now on, the appointment remains with an attribution to the Prime Minister on the certificate.

A social media user, Sandeep Manudhane, pointed this out on X, formerly Twitter, and shared a photo of the Covid-19 vaccine certificate. “Modi ji no longer appears on Covid vaccine certificates. I downloaded it to check: yes, your photo is gone,” she wrote.

Sandeep attributed the removal of Prime Minister Modi’s photo to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare told The Print that the symbol was removed in accordance with orders from the Election Commission of India (ECI). , as the MCC is in position for the seven-phase elections of the Lok Sabha 2024.

This is not the first time that Modi’s photo has been removed from Covid-19 vaccination certificates. In 2022, The Print reported that, by order of ICE, the prime minister’s photo had been removed in states under scrutiny. , adding Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Many X users have speculated that the most recent admission about Covishield, a product manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII) under license from AstraZeneca, is the reason for the change in the vaccination certificate. However, it turned out to be the style. Code of Conduct.
