MANILA, 7 August (Reuters) – The Philippine Ministry of Health reported 3,379 more cases of coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total number of infections shown in the country to 122,754.
In a bulletin, the ministry increased the number of deaths from 24 to 2168.
Infections have increased by nearly seven times, while deaths have more than doubled since a strict blockade was lifted in June. This led Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to re-impose a blockade in and around Manila before this week.
The country now has the number of instances in Southeast Asia and other parts of East Asia, adding China. (Report through Neil Jerome Morales and Adrian Portugal)
