Philippines begins Avigan clinical trials on Monday

MANILA, Philippines – Clinical trials of the Japanese antiviral drug Avigan in COVID-19 patients in the Philippines will begin on Monday, according to the Ministry of Health (DOH).

“Maguumpisa tayo ngayon then after nine months magsubmit ng turns out,” Vergeire told reporters on an online media forum (we’ll start and after nine months we’ll send the result).

He has earmarked at least 18 million pesos for Avigan’s trials.

Avigan would have tested positive for patients with COVID-19 in China, i.e. those with mild symptoms.[Ac]
