Philippines 2,459 new COVID-19 cases, 36 deaths

The Philippines reported 2,459 new COVID-19 infections on Friday, bringing the number of infections in the Southeast Asian country to 3,978,354.

The Health Ministry said the number of active instances rose to 26,399, while 36 patients died from COVID-19 headaches, bringing the country’s death toll to 63,439.

Metro Manila, the capital region with more than thirteen million inhabitants, reported 951 new cases.

The Philippines reported its single-day COVID-19 number on Jan. 15 with 39,004 new cases. The country, with a population of about 110 million, has fully vaccinated more than 73. 3 million people.
