The Philippines is now the epicenter of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Southeast Asia after beating Indonesia with the number of infections on Thursday.
The Philippines registered 119,460 instances of Covid to 118,753 in Indonesia.
Of the country’s 119,460 on Thursday, 3,561 are new.
Data from 89 of the 98 laboratories accredited through the Ministry of Health (DoH) showed that of the 3,561 new cases, 2,023 are new and 1,538 are cases defeated but validated.
Of the total number of new cases, 2,740 occurred from July 24 to August 6.
The National Capital Region (RNC) still has the number of new instances with 2,041.
The total number of recoveries is 66,837, of which 569 were recorded on Thursday.
The death toll increased to 2,150 after another 28 died from the disease.
Sixteen of the 28 died in July, 10 in August and one in May and June.
Eleven deaths occurred in the NCR, in the central Visayas, two in the regions of the Davao peninsula and Zamboanga and one in the western Visayas, northern Mindanao and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon). One user died in an unidentified area.
The total number of international Covid instances is 18.6 million, with more than 701,000 deaths, for the World Health Organization (WHO).
