BALTIMORE – U. S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has tested positive for COVID-19, officials said shortly before he made an announcement in Baltimore City along with Gov. Wes Moore and other local leaders.
The U. S. Department of Transportation announced Sunday that the secretary tested positive and experienced mild symptoms and will isolate at home.
Buttigieg recently returned from a wonderful layover in Ukraine. He was scheduled to make a stop at Carver Vocational and Technical School to meet with academics and union members and highlight the progress of the Baltimore Workforce Hub.
There, Buttigieg was scheduled to “make an announcement of primary jobs” along with Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Gov. Wes Moore, acting U. S. Labor Secretary Julie Su and Amtrak CEO Stephen Gardner, among other executives.
The announcement is scheduled for 9:30 a. m.
