ROMANIA: ARF, the railway reform agency, announced on October 30 that it had selected Pesa Bydgoszcz as a supplier of 62 electrical equipment for regional services.

After the standstill period, a contract worth between 3. 2 and 4. 2 billion lei will be signed, which the losing bidder, Alstom, can appeal. It will come with 15 years of maintenance, with an option for 15 more years.

EMUs will be available to existing and long-term operators of subsidized services.

The EMUs will be ordered in 3 batches, starting with 20 for the București – Ploiești – Adjud, Iași – Pașcani – Suceava and Bacău – Pașcani routes. The second batch would come with 23 sets for Brașov – Gheorgheni, Arad – Timișoara – Caransebeș and Huedin – Cluj – Bistrița, with the last 19 EMUs to be used in București – Ploiești – Brașov, București – Roșiori, București Norte – București Obor. /Services Fundulea and Constanța – Fetești.

The order is funded through the European Union’s Transport Programme 2021-27 with co-funding from the Romanian Government.
