(Reuters) -Credicorp,, one of Peru’s biggest financial holding companies, on Thursday announced a slate of top-level management changes, including the appointment of a new chief financial officer who is set to take up the role next July.

Alejandro Perez-Reyes is expected to succeed outgoing CFO Cesar Rios, Credicorp said, while Rios himself will lead the threat officer for Credicorp and its sister company BCP on July 1.

Credicorp said the changes, which are in line with the retirement of current threat leader Reynado Llosa, mark a “strategic shift toward the strength of our business. “

The company said its head of leadership generation will now report to Credicorp’s chief executive and established the new lead strategy officer role, which will be filled through Michelle Labarth, a former head of Rothchild and Lehman Brothers.

In addition, Credicorp also announced that it is seeking a license to establish a new banking entity in neighboring Chile.

The announcements come after Credicorp last month downgraded some monetary forecasts for this year’s effects and warned of a “moderate to strong” El Niño weather event next summer.

The cyclical weather phenomenon, which is warming the Pacific Ocean and causing excessive weather events across the region, is expected to affect the South American country’s main fishing and agricultural sectors.
