(Bloomberg) – Peru set a dark record by reporting the highest number of deaths consistent with the coronavirus capita.
With 28277 deaths shown by Covid-19, or 86.2 consisting of 100,000 inhabitants, Peru outperformed Belgium on Thursday as the country with maximum casualties, according to knowledge compiled through Johns Hopkins University, the IMF and Bloomberg. This comes a week after the South American country of another 33 million people recorded the world’s innermost economic contraction in this quarter after a drastic blockade.
More than five months after reporting its first case, Peru is also experiencing one of the worst epidemics in the world through measures. In the last seven days, no country has reported any more cases. It is also one of the countries with the highest deaths by population length in the following week.
The epidemic has been so severe that a quarter of Lima’s 12 million people already have the virus, according to a government study published last month. Officials warn that the actual death toll in the country could be close to twice the official figure.

However, there are symptoms that Peru would possibly have surpassed the worst of the pandemic. Although the country reported 153 deaths on Thursday, the number of hospitalized patients fell 9.2% from a peak reached 10 days earlier.
Despite the early and competitive blockade across the country, the government has fought its epidemic. Cases increased after lockout measures eased in July, triggering a ban on social gatherings and the family circle and also delaying plans to reopen the economy.
