Panama announced that it will reopen its borders abroad on October 12, with several new precautions opposed to the existing COVID-19.
Travelers to Panama will have to check negative COVID-19 within 48 hours of arrival, those with effects of more than 48 hours in time should take a COVID-19 quick check at the airport, with a charge of approximately $30. There are no arrival restrictions depending on the country, anyone can enter Panama.
“After ending our borders to travelers at the end of March, we are very happy to welcome visitors to Panama safely,” Panama’s Tourism Minister Ivan Eskildsen said in a message shared with Travel Leisure. “The new fitness and protection protocols reflect our continuous hard paints and determination to protect Panamanians and our visitors, and through our efforts, have earned the World Travel Safe Travel seal of approval.
Before registering for a flight, passengers must also complete an electronic affidavit agreeing to comply with coVID-19 measures of the Panamanian Ministry of Health. They will have to remain quarantined for seven days in a hotel, paid through the Panamanian government, will be re-examined at the end of the quarantine period.
Face masks are mandatory in all public spaces and electronic invoices in department stores and restaurants are preferable to decrease person-to-person contact. Visitors should also obey social distance measures and stick to commands about symptoms when they are displayed.
Those who wish to dine in a place to eat deserve to book in advance as the places are limited since the places to eat must respect the social distance between tables. The circuits also operate with limited capacity, up to 50% in floor boarding vehicles.
Although fitness insurance is not required to enter Panama, it is highly recommended.
