Panama President Shoots Down Crypto Bill Citing FATF Guidelines

Panamanian President Laurentino Cortizo vetoed Bill 697, dubbed the “Crypto Bill,” saying it calls for more measures to better adapt to Panama’s monetary regulations.

President Cortizo had warned in the past in May that he would not sign the invoice unless it included more anti-money laundering regulations after Panama’s National Assembly approved the crypto invoice due in April 2022.
