PANAMA CITY – The Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center has begun an expansion of $62 million that is expected to create a hundred jobs and expand into acute patient care in the region.
Panama City Hospital announced Thursday that the 18-month allocation had begun and Gulf Coast Regional first unveiled its plans in November.
“Ensuring that our network is good enough to provide high-quality care closer to home is a priority for us,” said Brad Griffin, Gulf Coast Regional CEO, in a press release Thursday. “Publishing the structure of this extension brings us even closer to this goal. “

Griffin added that from the effects of Hurricane Michael about two years ago to the existing COVID-19 pandemic, the desire for physical attention and greater bed capacity in the region is more evident than ever.
“Our strategic progression projects are a way to reinvest in our network and fulfill the developing desires of our residents,” Griffin said.
During the structure phase, the hospital and emergency branch will remain fully operational, according to the press release. Construction sites will be pleasantly informed and any adjustments to traffic patterns on the hospital campus will communicate with directional symptoms to help hospital colleagues, patients and visitors navigate smoothly to their destination.

In addition to this new expansion, Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center has recently invested in several other projects designed to access fitness services in Bay County.
In June 2020, Panama City’s emergency room opened its doors to the public. The $11. 5 million, 12,000-square-foot independent facility is a fully functional emergency room with a full of nurses, respiratory therapists and emergency physicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In early 2020, the hospital added an additional operating room, completed renovations to its postpartum unit, and expanded the emergency room ambulance canopy.
