In an official on this subject, Pakistan wrote: “As seen in the photo that Hafeez had violated the two-meter social distance protocol and after a consultation procedure with the team’s doctor, team control made the decision to isolate him until he returned a negative Covid-19 test.
“Hafeez underwent the Covid-19 verification over Wednesday afternoon and the result is expected on Thursday at some point.
“The resolve to put Hafeez in solitary confinement was made by him and for the protection and safety of all around him.
“Team Control believes it is an inadvertent error, but it’s a smart reminder to everyone about the importance of following biosecurity protocols, which were designed for the physical condition and protection of everyone involved in the series.
“The control team has informed the Cricket Council of England and Wales of its decision.”
