Match report – ODI World Cup: South Africa pull off a heist to push Pakistan to elimination
South Africa survived a late rate from Pakistan to claim a thrilling one-ground victory and move closer to the World Cup semifinals on Friday. Aiden Markram fired a fake 91 and, at 206-4, South Africa were on their way to comfortably chasing a 271-point target. However, the final pair of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi scored 11 points, leading their team to cross the baseline with 16 balls to lose.

We are very close, we did not end well. Very disappointing for the entire team. We fight very well. At the plate we were missing 10-15. The bowlers and fast spinners fought smartly but unfortunately that was not the case. It’s part of the game, in DRS it’s part of the game. If he had given it, it would have benefited us.
