Pakistan: Video of cow tied to a crane falling from Karachi rooftop sparks outrage online

A video of a cow taken for slaughter, transported through a crane and falling from the floor of a space in Karachi, Pakistan, went viral and sparked a debate about animal cruelty online.

While Pakistan was celebrating Eid Al Adha on Saturday, August 2, a video of a cow slipping and falling to the ground gave the impression on social media, infuriating Internet users.

In the video, it can be noted that the cow is lifted from the more sensitive two-story building when it loses its balance and falls to the floor among a multitude of spectators, many of whom are seen filming the incident.

Social media users have criticized the “irresponsible” act, calling it cruelty to animals, while some have defended it by rejecting it over the crane command that kindly tied the animal.

According to social media posts, the cow that fell from the crane belonged to the circle of relatives for two years.

Twitter user @sulemanrazauk wrote: “This specific cow raised and cared for through the circle of relatives for almost two years on the most sensitive terrain of their home in Pakistan, I don’t understand why they chose to shoot it down through a crane for qurbani (sacrifice) on Eid’s day and why they couldn’t do it on the same ground. #ShareToAware. »

On Twitter, Pakistani actress Ushna Shah, @ushnashah, also reacted to the video: “I just saw a video of a terrified cow hanging in the air of a crane and then falling into the street to be killed. Is that qurbani? Isn’t there a criminal for those monsters? I’m so sick of this Pakistan. What about so many people here?

Some responded to Shah’s message calling him a mere “accident.”

Tweep – ehsanah96184578 published: “He didn’t fall. They didn’t save him well. It was an accident. This has been done in Karachi for centuries. Someone fed that cow to be in Eid’s condition. Don’t equate everything with animal cruelty. It was an accident.”

Another Twitter user, @BlunderWoman_, had similar thoughts: “I think it’s a mistake and not an abuse. SomeoneArray … My friend made her front mehndi (wedding celebration) through [a] crane with her boyfriend. These other people were IDK (I don’t know) show up or anything else, but I don’t think they needed that to happen, that’s just my opinion.

Some have warned that having animals on rooftops is not an unusual practice in Pakistan.

A Twitter user @TheAnthonian wrote: “I don’t think it’s an unusual practice in Karachi for animals to stay on the roof and get off to Querbani using a crane. Apparently, it looks like the operator didn’t assured the cow well, which led to this accident. Again, just an opinion.

While some social media posts suggest that the cow died after falling to the ground, the details are unclear.
