Pakistan Lifts Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate Requirement for Haj Visitors

The Pakistan-based news daily reported that the Saudi authorities revoked major restrictions this year in June for the Haj pilgrimage leading to the visit of pilgrims at maximum capacity for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.

Around 2 million people gathered at Islam’s holiest site for the pilgrimage after the Saudi government invited others from around the world following the removal of barriers.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs opened registration for Haj 2024 on November 27 as a component of the government program and the procedure is expected to continue until December 12.

Applications can be submitted with a passport valid until December 16, 2024, and Haj’s application can also be processed with a passport application token.

News International reported, citing the ministry’s spokesman, that around 89,605 Pakistanis will carry out the Haj as a component of the government’s program next year.

A vote will be taken if the prescribed number of nominations is received.

Under the sponsorship scheme, 25,000 seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. (ANI)
