Pakistan: Imran Khan punishes political opponents, accusing them of plotting against him and the army

Khan said his purpose is to achieve “Haqeeqi Azadi” (true freedom) through the march, which he said can be achieved if free and fair elections are held immediately. He also said he is not opposed to the status quo of the country.

At the start of the fifth day of his protest march, Khan addressed his supporters in Gujranwala and continued with the same old ruthless complaint of his political rivals: former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“They are plotting for a confrontation between the PTI, which is the largest political party in the country, and the army. Nawaz Sharif, I challenge you, when you come back, I will beat you in your own constituency,” Khan said.

He also warned Sharif, saying, “We will take you to Adiala from the airport once you return home. “

Zardari, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former president, was also highlighted through Khan, who pleaded with him to “prepare” for his stopover in Sindh, the ancestral homeland of the Bhutto-Zardari dynasty. “Zardari listens carefully. ” I come to Sindh,” he added.

Nawaz Sharif mocks Imran Khan’s departure

Khan’s participation in the long march mocked Sharif, who claimed that the PTI could only gather another 2,000 people while claiming to gather a million protesters.

“The explanation for why people’s indifference is devilish lies,” Sharif tweeted Monday night.

He alleged that Khan lied so much that the head of the spy firm Inter-Services Intelligence “was forced to break his silence and tell the nation about the fact. “

Sharif said he had informed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif not to heed any of Kha’s demands, no matter how many other people he brought.

ISI leader Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum said Thursday that army leader Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa won a “lucrative bid” in March from then-Khan leader amid political unrest.

Khan admitted that he had proposed an extension of the army chief’s mandate, but said he would remain “silent” because he needed to “harm” the country and its institutions.

Khan, who went so far as to force a promise to create a “Naya Pakistan” in 2018, reportedly lost control of the hard army after refusing to approve the appointment of the ISI leader last year.

Khan eventually agreed, but that soured his ties with the military, which has ruled the coup-prone country for more than a part of its 75-year history and has exerted abundant force over security and foreign policy.

Meanwhile, former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said protesters would spend the day in Gujranwala.

He said the resolution to slow down the adventure to Islamabad was made to avoid injury with “thousands of other people walking along the caravan. “

Chaudhry also announced that the march schedule had been replaced and that it would not succeed in Islamabad even until Sunday.

He also criticized the government for tightening security measures in the nation’s capital, saying it had deployed at least 30,000 security force workers and released a huge sum of cash to deal with the party’s march.

Iman Khan disqualified as a member of the National Assembly

Khan was disqualified earlier this month from the existing National Assembly through a five-member panel of the Pakistan Election Commission (ECP) led by its leader Sikandar Sultan Raja.

He is calling for early elections and leading the long march to Islamabad to impose his demands. The National Assembly’s term will end in August 2023 and new elections are expected to be held within 60 days.

Khan, who was ousted from the force in April after squandering a no-confidence vote against his leadership, called it a “threatening letter” from the United States and claimed it is part of a foreign plot to indict him because it is not appropriate to stick to an independent foreign policy. The United States flatly rejected the allegations.
