UNITED NATIONS, 11 September (APPLICATION): Pakistan has called for greater cooperation among upcoming countries, calling it as nations face the social and economic consequences of the fatal coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at a virtual commemoration of United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation, Ambassador Munir Akram said that countries now face a triple challenge: the COVID crisis, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the negative have an effect on climate change.
While evolved countries have issued budget deficits of $11 trillion to finance their COVID recovery, the Pakistani envoy said the next countries were suffering the resources to spend on their recovery.
“Then there is inequality, and I think when it comes to financing, we have to locate tactics to use our reserve currencies and take advantage of the reserves we have to allow south-south cooperation and everyone,” he says.
Ambassador Akram said the key to the SDGs is to expand infrastructure cooperation and investment establishments. In the science and technology field, he said it was mandatory to align the world’s intellectual asset regime with the SDGs.

Since then, South-South industry has grown exponentially, mutual investment between the countries of the South has been higher than that of the evolved countries of the North in emerging countries.
“And we have built cooperation establishments like ASEAN (Association of Southeast Nations) which has promoted South-South cooperation to an unprecedented point and provides an example of paint for many of us in other regions,” he said.

This year’s commemoration took place two days before the official birthday party on 12 September and before the 75th anniversary birthday party of the United Nations.
