Oct. 3: The Otsego County Department of Public Health receives information from county citizens about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected them and why they may have hesitated to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The survey asks citizens how they have been affected by the pandemic, how their existing source of income compares to their pre-pandemic source of income, if they are vaccinated, if they have not obtained the vaccine or booster, why not, and where to go for recommendation on COVID-19 prevention. Abigail Mosenthin, a graduate fellow in public health, said in an email: “Absolutely no non-public data will be shared with the public about who responded and what their responses were. Also, at any time, if you need your answers removed from the list of responses, you can do so by simply contacting me.
“I ask those questions to find the express reasons why some citizens of Otsego County are reluctant to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” Mosenthin said. “One message I hope to convey to the other unvaccinated people in Otsego County is that I just need to hear your comments and reasons. I don’t do this to make anyone feel safe because they’re not vaccinated or to convince them to get vaccinated. I just need everyone in Otsego County to have their voices heard when it comes to vaccines and I hope to do that with this survey.
Mosenthin said he is compiling the effects as surveys end and “I look forward to improving how we as a fitness service respond to long-term fitness emergencies and localize tactics to better teach our communities over the long term. “Post an article about your locations once you finish collecting the responses. “This document can help others who are considering conducting a similar long-term survey and make anyone interested aware of vaccination concerns in Otesego County. “
Mosenthin is a doctoral student in public fitness at Capella University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Utica College and a master’s degree in public fitness from Southern New Hampshire University, he said. She is a State Public Health Corps Graduate Fellow for Otesego County. In the 2021 State of the State address, then-Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the creation of the Public Health Corps for COVID-19 vaccination operations and to develop long-term public fitness emergency preparedness. “My position is designed to enable others passionate about improving the fitness and well-being of the citizens of Otsego County to promote fitness equity among populations experiencing disparities,” he said.
“Right now, I don’t have a deadline to send surveys,” he said. “I hope to collect data for as long as imaginable to get answers from as many citizens of Otsego County as possible. “
