TORONTO, Ohio – Ontarioians six months and older will receive the flu vaccine and the new COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones announced the launch of the vaccination program on Sunday, saying other people deserve to make sure they are up to date on their vaccinations to stay safe and healthy in the season when respiratory illnesses typically increase.

“Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and the flu is the way to stay healthy, both for your loved ones and for your community,” Jones said in a statement.
“Our government is making sure you have access to the equipment you want during the fall breathing season by making COVID-19 and flu vaccines available at convenient locations near you, at no cost to Ontarians.
The Ontario government has said flu shots and newer COVID-19 vaccines will be available at local pharmacies, public gyms and number one fitness providers across the province.
He said getting the COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot is convenient because it reduces the need for multiple visits.
Dr. Kieran Moore, the province’s chief medical officer of health, also encouraged Ontarioians to stay up to date on their vaccinations.
“Given the expected co-circulation of influenza, COVID-19 and RSV during the fall and winter, I inspire Ontarians to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu as soon as possible,” Moore said. “Especially those who are elderly, immunocompromised or have physical condition situations that make them vulnerable to respiratory diseases. “
Pfizer and Moderna’s new COVID-19 vaccines were through Health Canada earlier this fall and are designed to target the XBB variant of COVID-19.
The province said other people six months of age and older can get a new COVID-19 vaccine if it’s been six months since their last vaccine dose or they’ve shown infection.
